Skin and hair peptides are research compounds that are studied in skin cells, collagen production, pigmentation and hair follicles. The best known of them is the copper peptide GHK-Cu, which is also used as an ingredient in cosmetics. This category contains the pure research compounds of this field as lyophilised powder for laboratory use.

Skin and hair peptides in this category

  • GHK-Cu 50 mg: the copper tripeptide, studied for collagen and elastin production in skin cells and for the size of hair follicles. COA on file.
  • Glutathione 2000 mg: the main antioxidant tripeptide of human cells, studied in connection with pigmentation and oxidative stress in skin.
  • BPC-157 / GHK-Cu / TB-500 / KPV blend: GHK-Cu combined with three repair and anti-inflammatory peptides, for wound healing models.
  • Melanotan II 10 mg: an analogue of the hormone alpha-MSH that activates the MC1R receptor, which controls melanin production in skin cells.

GHK-Cu: the most studied skin peptide

GHK-Cu was discovered in 1973 and has the longest research history of any skin peptide. In cell cultures it increases the production of collagen and other matrix components, and gene data show effects on a large number of genes involved in tissue repair. Our guide GHK-Cu copper peptide summarises the studies with sources. The pure 50 mg research compound differs from cosmetic serums, which contain GHK-Cu at low concentrations in a finished formula.

How to choose a skin or hair peptide for research

For collagen, wound healing and hair follicle studies, GHK-Cu is the standard compound. For pigmentation research, Melanotan II (melanin production) and Glutathione (antioxidant pathways) are the relevant compounds; Melanotan II is also listed in our Melanotan II, PT-141 and Kisspeptin category. For wound models that combine repair and inflammation, the four peptide blend is the alternative to single compounds.

Handling of skin and hair peptides

GHK-Cu is a blue powder and gives a clear blue solution; a colour change to green or brown is a sign of degradation. All compounds are dissolved before use with bacteriostatic water, as explained in our guide on how to reconstitute peptides.

Research use only

None of these compounds is an approved medicine or a finished cosmetic product. All skin and hair peptides are sold for laboratory research use only and are not intended for human or veterinary use.
